Daughters of the Midwest are brilliant, capable, and tough, with hearts meant to create magic and endure hardship and cold winds and minds that can problem solve like nobody’s business. We are raised to be caring and self-sufficient and of service to the people we love and our communities.

We have been given incredible traits by the people, landscape, and regional culture that shaped us, but there is another side to embodying those traits fully. Because we are also raised to be quiet, to be good, to not draw attention to ourselves, and to provide scaffolding and care for others to shine. Embodying those traits for decades, quite frankly, can be exhausting!

The stoic actions and beliefs of the northern Europeans who created what became our region’s dominant culture post-colonization have so many women and femme-coded midwesterners:

A feminine face with two braids, a yellow trucker hat that says Midwestern Daughter, and a red handkerchief at her neck.
  • Putting everyone’s needs before their own.

  • Wondering if they are selfish for wanting more care and softness to fall into rather than carrying everything on their shoulders all the time.

  • Exhausted at program-managing the lives and care of parents who need assistance, often while the brothers among us don’t give this responsibility a second thought.

  • Wishing there had been more emotional availability and support offered to them by family when they were young (and even now!), and wondering how to model something different for their own children.

  • Wondering if anyone will see them for anything other than what they can do for others.

In my own desire to create magic, problem solve, and serve others, I created Midwestern Daughter, a six-month online container where participants will explore shifting identities, hold sacred what’s ready to be surrendered to the compost pile of the universe, and to welcome in new stories written by individual truth rather than regional or family culture. This container is for anyone who has ever considered themselves something of a Daughter of the Midwest (regardless of gender assigned at birth or gender identity now!), a daughter of this region, of its landscape, of its cultural ideology either through geography or family ties.

In Midwestern Daughter, we’ll meet twice a month around the full and new moons from November April to break down some of the main themes of our upbringing, examine how the stories we have been told about ourselves and what we should want or do have influenced our lives, and write new stories centered around the expectations and desires we have for ourselves. Midwestern Daughter will help you let go, gently and with gratitude, of the old stories that no longer serve you while you move towards embracing a story and self of your own making.

The world needs you in your power and living your own truths, and Midwestern Daughter gives you a place to find or solidify new stories and identity while sharing in community. We share a regional culture that has informed how we see ourselves and exist in the world. Midwestern Daughter gives you a chance to decide the stories of your next chapter, while being cheered on  by others who know just what you’re going through as you write yourself into your life guided by your own expectations, dreams, and desires. You’ve taken care of others your whole life, and Midwestern Daughter gives you a safe spot to pour back into yourself.

At our first session each month, we’ll use guided meditations and readings to break down some common themes in our upbringings.

We'll talk about:

  • Worth being tied to what we provide for others

  • Self-Reliance and Obligation

  • Shame

  • Inner versions of ourselves from the past

  • And more!

We'll deconstruct the stories we carry around each theme, keep what still feels nourishing if anything does, and let go of the rest with thanks and praise. Then we'll create new stories that are more in alignment wiht your truest self, create ways to practice new pattersns, and use art and writing to shed what no longer serves you and to call in what does.

In between sessions we’ll have some journal and art prompts available to process what comes up for you with each theme. At our second meeting, we’ll have a bit of a “Kaffee Klatsch”, an informal gathering to use as studio time to create from or beyond the prompts,  and to share feelings and revelations that come up with the themes we cover. Sharing is always and only voluntary, and our Kaffee Klatsch time will also be a space where you can show up and hang out with one another without sharing a thing.

Midwestern Daughter is a fun and creative container to help you figure out what you want for your own existence going forward, and how to blend new traits and practices with all that serves you in your life currently. I’ve seen these themes come up with many people over the last few years and I wanted to create a space for people to sort through those themes together and write new stories for the divine and ecstatic selves they are. We’ll offer thanks for the ways these stories have informed our lives and in many cases, helped shape us into the incredible women and femmes we are, and we’ll say goodbye in community to the stories and themes we’d like to shed in order to make room for who we are becoming.

This container is for you if you are someone who:

  • Has been feeling like the stories you’ve carried are starting to fall out of alignment with who you’re becoming.

  • Has wrestled with always feeling obligated to others before yourself.

  • Needs to shift their identity a bit to pull into alignment with your truest self, and you aren’t sure how to begin.

  • Would like support and community in deconstructing old stories about self worth, self-reliance, and shame in order to let go of what you don’t want and move forward with what you do.

  • Wants to step into their power without the guilt of cultural and family stories and expectations weighing you down.

You will leave with:

  • A deeper connection to yourself, and all the versions of yourself you have ever been.

  • The ability to move towards alignment with your truest and most authentic self.

  • A connection to your magic and the person you came here to be.

  • The lightness that comes from having been in community with others while you work through grief and identity as you move towards liberation.

All sessions will be recorded and made available for participants, so you never have to worry about missing a thing.

Investment for the inaugural cohort is $295. Payment plans available at checkout.

FAQ

Do I HAVE to be from the midwest to join? Nope! The things we’ll talk about and deconstruct are things that most people assigned female in our culture experience. The Midwest just really goes hard on all of them because of the ethos of its regional culture.

Do I HAVE to share things out loud with the whole group? Nope! You can join this container and be in community with the cohort in the ways that feel most nourishing for you. These are big pieces of identity to deconstruct, and some people might want to be able to do it alongside others without sharing with the whole group. We may have some breakout room opportunities, but even those are yours to do with what you want.

What are the dates and times? We'll have two sessions every month: - The first monthly session will be 6:00pm-7:30pm CST. - The second monthly session will be 3:00pm-4:00pm CST. Inaugural cohort dates: 11/11/25 and 11/25/25 12/2/25 and 12/18/25 1/6/26 and 1/20/26 2/3/26 and 2/17/26 3/3/26 and 3/19/26 4/2/26 and 4/26/26 All sessions take place on zoom. More information can be found on the registration page.

What is a Kaffee Klatsch? It’s a group of friends getting together for coffee and conversation. It’s usually in someone’s house, but we’ll have it in our little zoom container. Bringing a treat with your coffee or tea is encouraged!

Will the sessions be recorded? Absolutely!

Are there payment plans? There are a couple of pay in four options at checkout.
